Job description
Job responsibilities
Help shape the future of mental health support across Yorkshire and beyond.
Could this be the right time to explore a trustee role in mental health?
Northpoint is a Yorkshire-based mental health charity supporting children, young people and adults across our region and beyond. As we continue to grow and evolve, particularly through innovation and digital development, we are looking to appoint a small number of new Trustees to join our Board to complement the skills, perspectives and experience already in place.
This is an opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing charity and make a meaningful difference to the communities we serve.
Why join our Board?
Our Trustee roles are voluntary and designed to be manageable alongside other commitments. We place a strong emphasis on:
supportive induction and ongoing development
accessible meetings (in terms of timing, language and format)
a Board culture that is collaborative, respectful and open to challenge
valuing lived experience and community knowledge as strategic insight, rather than token representation
What we're looking for?
We are seeking new trustees to join our board. We’re particularly keen to connect with those who bring strong community insight, lived experience, and a value led approach to leadership.
As a Trustee, you'll help to:
Direct our strategy and ensuring we deliver our charitable purpose.
Monitor performance and impact. Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Shape and uphold our culture and values. Acting as ambassadors for us and safeguarding our reputation.
Participate in board and committee meetings, working collaboratively with fellow trustees and the executive team.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in areas such as digital innovation, accessibility and inclusion, healthcare, governance, leadership, community engagement, organisational growth, or partnerships.
About you
You may never have considered becoming a Trustee before, and that's okay. We welcome people from a range of backgrounds who share our values, bring fresh perspectives and have the time and commitment to contribute to our Board. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who are passionate about mental health, inclusion and supporting positive change within communities.
Our commitment to diversity
We know that our Board does not currently reflect the full diversity of the communities we serve. We are committed to broadening the range of voices, perspectives and lived experiences represented around our Board table and would particularly welcome applications from people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, minority ethnic communities and groups that are currently underrepresented within our governance structures.
We believe that diversity of thought, experience and identity strengthens decision making and helps us better understand and respond to the needs of the children, young people, adults and communities we support. All appointments will be made on merit, based on the skills, experience and qualities each individual brings.
Think you might be interested?
If you're excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of mental health support and make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve, we'd love to hear from you!
