Undergraduate medical students are taught by the UHL throughout the medical course from years 1 to 5. Both ward and outpatient based clinical teaching as well as tutorial and lecture style teaching is undertaken. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduates and postgraduates as part of this post.

Post holders will be given the opportunity to gain experience in aspects of clinical management, leadership and governance, including root cause analysis and business case development, towards becoming a consultant, focusing upon clinical leadership, governance and managerial aspects

training and Qualifications

Essential

• Full registration and hold a current licence to practise from the GMC at intended start date Part 1 MRCOG Minimum of 2 years' experience in Obstetrics and gynaecology, completion of ST2 level competencies

Clinical skills

Essential

• Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems Ability to prioritise clinical need Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk Recognition of and ability to undertake the initial management of an acutely ill patient

Desirable

• Can independently manage labour ward and gynaecological emergencies

Academic Skills

Essential

• Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and clinical quality o improvement initiatives o Experience of active involvement in clinical quality o Improvement measures (clear description, outcomes &appropriate experience for level of application). This can include: audit, guideline development, implementation of health policy, improved team working, leadership etc.' o Demonstrates knowledge of evidence-informed practice

Desirable

• Research skills: Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, e.g. degrees, prizes, awards, distinctions, publications, presentations, other achievements Teaching: Evidence of interest in, and experience of teaching Evidence of feedback for teaching.
