Job summary
We are excited to be able to offer a new, permanent Band 7 Team Lead Dietitian role within the BCUHB wide Level 3 Paediatric Weight Management Team. The service is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping children and families to join the MDT. They will work closely with the Service Lead to provide team lead support and direction to the whole team, as well as some direct supervisions. They will also work as a specialist clinician within the MDT, triaging, attending MDT clinics and offering specialist dietetic input at dietetic clinics.
Main duties of the job
Obesity in children is multifactorial so a flexible approach will be needed to help enable the team to tailor support for each child and address their specific needs which may be a mixture of emotional, behavioural, mental or/and physical. As a team we help children engage and set small, sustainable goals to improve their health whilst they attend the 12 month Help Me To Be Healthy programme. These will not all be dietary, so a holistic approach is paramount and the successful applicant is likely to be involved in overseeing design of interventions to support nutritional, emotional, and behavioural (such as binge eating) elements. An ability to synthesise evidence from the literature base and amalgamate pragmatically with service data is important. This skill, alongside a natural passion for iterative quality improvement will support development of pathway/process changes which will ultimately improve team effectiveness and positively impact outcomes for the children on the programme.
