As a Systems Engineer - Aerospace, you will join our Derby team to support our activities within the aerospace propulsion sector.
You will play a key role in the development of complex aerospace systems, supporting the definition of system architectures, requirements, and interfaces using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies. Working across fuel and oil system programmes, you will develop and maintain Capella models, ensuring full traceability between requirements, functions, architectures, and system designs throughout the engineering lifecycle

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain MBSE models using Capella f or complex aerospace systems
Create and mature System Architectures and Logical Architectures within the MBSE framework
Perform functional analysis and functional decomposition of aerospace systems and subsystems
Define functions, sub-functions, interfaces, exchanges, and logical components within Capella
Establish and maintain relationships between requirements, functions, logical components, and interfaces
Support the development and maturation of system requirements, including PSRD and PSDD requirements
Ensure requirements traceability through allocation and management within the MBSE architecture
Collaborate with system, component, and specialist engineering teams to define subsystem and component interfaces
Support architecture reviews, design reviews, and systems engineering assurance activities
Contribute to Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities and engineering risk assessments
Use MBSE models to support technical decision-making, integration activities, and design assurance
Resolve architecture, interface, and requirements-related issues across multidisciplinary teams
Required Skills:
Hands-on experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Practical experience developing models using Capella
Strong understanding of System Architecture and Logical Architecture development
Experience with functional analysis and functional decomposition techniques
Knowledge of function-to-component allocation and interface management
Experience in requirements engineering, allocation, and traceability
Understanding of systems engineering methodologies and lifecycle processes
Experience working within complex multidisciplinary engineering environments
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering , or equivalent military experience .
Industry experience within systems engineering experience
Experience developing and maintaining engineering requirements and architectures
Demonstrable experience working with MBSE tools and frameworks
Desirable Skills:
Experience within aerospace propulsion systems
Knowledge of oil systems and fuel systems
Understanding of thermal management or fluid systems
Experience with PSRD and PSDD requirements development
Knowledge of DFMEA, FMEA, and engineering risk assessment methodologies
Experience working on safety-critical engineering programmes
Familiarity with design assurance and system integration activities
Experience integrating requirements engineering with MBSE architectures
