Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and competent individual to join our friendly and progressive department. The successful candidate will work with an established multidisciplinary team in a busy area encompassing the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and a Day Ward. The postholder will have the opportunity to develop into the role which will include assisting with procedures in the lab, being involved in the pre and post procedure care of patients and nurse led preadmission clinics. The postholder should ideally have experience or knowledge of working with cardiac patients and be able to work under pressure.

Main duties of the job
The purpose of the job is to work in conjunction with the cardiology team to deliver high quality nursing care to cardiac patients. The post holder carries responsibility for the assessment of care needs, developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.
The post holder will on agreed occasions be designated to take charge of the shift in absence of the nurse who has continuing responsibility. The post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre and post registration students.
The Post holder will be required to work flexible pattern of a variety of shifts including 10 hour long days, 7.5hour long shifts, late shifts, Monday to Friday.
To assist medical staff by acting as a scrub nurse for procedures. The post holder will need to be able to wear lead aprons to comply with radiation protection regulations.
