Main duties of the job

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT)is currently recruiting Specialty Doctorsto join our well-established, multi-disciplinary teams across a number of services in Adult and Older Adult Mental Health. These positions offer a fantastic opportunity to work under the supervision of experienced Consultant Psychiatrists while contributing to the delivery of holistic, patient-centred care.

Vacancies are available in various teams (Dudley, Walsall, Sandwell and Wolverhampton) across the Trust Older Adult Division, each committed to supporting your continued professional development within a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

Black Country Older Adult Services

Older Adult Mental Health Services deliver multidisciplinary inpatient and community care for older adults with mental health conditions, underpinned by a person-centred and holistic model of care.Services operate across all four Black Country localities, with inpatient provision based in Walsall at the Dorothy Pattison Hospital Older Adult Unit, and at the newly refurbished Edward Street Hospital. These units provide specialist care for older adults with a range of mental health conditions, including functional illness and dementia.Exciting new developments include the Older Adult Hospital at Home Team and In-Reach to Care Home Team, enabling assessment and treatment in community settings and supporting admission avoidance where appropriate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

We are a teaching Trust, teaching undergraduates from Birmingham Medical Schools, St Georges Grenada, and are also part of the Black Country training scheme with core and higher specialist trainees from the West Midlands School of Psychiatry. We have a good record of encouraging and supporting specialty doctors if their aim is to achieve postgraduate exams and go on to Higher Specialist Training. There are good opportunities for applicants interested in education and research. Specialty Doctors will cover on average 1:11 out of hours second on-call rota.
