We are now seeking to recruit a Speciality Doctor to join our Rehabilitation Psychiatry services on a full time or part time basis. We are really pleased that you are seeking a career at LPT, you will work in partnership with members of well-established multi-disciplinary teams, both operationally and strategically to drive forward innovation delivering the best effective care for our patients.

You will provide medical and psychiatric support to the Consultant Psychiatrists working in the service area and in the management of service users. The role will also involve working with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

You will already have a minimum of 4 years’ experience at Core Training level or above, of which a minimum of two years will be in the relevant speciality, hold registration with the General Meical Council with a licence to pracitise and have/be eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act. Possession of MRCPych or equivalent is desirable. For those without MRCPsych training towards this will be supported, if desired. This is also a great opportunity for those who are working towards entry onto the Specialist Register via the Portfolio route.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)

We want a Specialty Doctor who can

• Deliver the highest quality of clinical care to our patents and carers

The post holder will be required to work in partnership to provide initial assessment and treatment initiation where appropriate of patients referred to the service. The post holder will need to ensure that people who use services, carers and advocates are treated with respect and dignity

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
• Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
• Completed at least 4 years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent) at least 2 of which will be in a relevant specialty training programme

Desirable

• MRC Psych or equivalent
• Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
• Additional clinical qualifications
• Approved under S12 or willing to undergoing training
• In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

Experience

Essential

• Previous adult experience in a inpatient setting
• Previous experience of writing psychiatric legal reports
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
• Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others

Desirable

• Previous experience in Rehabilitation Psychiatry
• Previous experience in Neuropsychiatry
