Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a 2 year fixed term position in the role of a Specialist Pharmacist Haematology in Pharmacy Technical Services, Southmead Hospital Operating Unit, Bristol Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and forward-thinking individual to join our team. The department provides a friendly, stimulating and rewarding environment for staff to develop their clinical and technical expertise. Pharmacists are valued members of the multidisciplinary team, playing a key role in delivering a high-quality service for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of clinical pharmacy services to the haematology directorate. This will involve working closely with the haematology team providing specialist advice and ensuring safe and timely supply of medications to inpatients, outpatients, and the chemotherapy day unit. The specialist haematology pharmacists are key members of the multidisciplinary team, attending weekly MDT meetings as well as contributing towards teaching, guideline development and clinical audit.
The post is based within our Pharmacy Technical Services team, providing support to the aseptic unit and acting as an 'Authorised Pharmacist' to ensure safe and efficient service delivery. The post holder will be an integral member of the Technical Services team, supporting with the implementation of the action plan from the Assurance of Aseptic Preparation of Medicines audit to continuously develop the service and maintain the unit's low risk rating. The successful candidate will have previous experience working within Technical Services. You must have completed (or be undertaking) the clinical diploma and be committed to continuing professional development. Previous experience working within haematology or oncology would be an advantage but is not essential.
