UGI Abdominal Wall & Hernia Fellow
Applications are invited for the post of UGI Abdominal Wall & Hernia Fellow in General Surgery. This post will be based at Epsom and St Helier Hospital and is designed to support the elective and emergency General Surgery Service. The post provides an opportunity for advanced training in the management of complex abdominal wall reconstruction and elective laparoscopic hernia surgery.
This is a 12 month post specifically for surgeons from the UK or internationally who have recently completed or are nearing the completion of their higher surgical training (post-CCT or equivalent)and wish to expand their surgical experience.
Main duties of the job
The Post-CCT Fellow will support the consultant-led Abdominal Wall Unit in delivering advanced elective hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction services, including outpatient clinics, theatre lists, MDT participation, and peri-operative patient management across both sites. The role also includes participation in the emergency general surgery on-call rota at St Helier Hospital, involving weekend, evening, and overnight duties within a busy CEPOD environment.

The team will ensure people have the right support in place for them to maintain their independence and live healthily and safely at home for as long as possible.
