Role description

About Swap

Swap is the infrastructure behind modern agentic commerce. The only AI-native platform connecting backend operations with a forward-thinking storefront experience.

Built for brands that want to sell anything - anywhere, Swap centralises global operations, powers intelligent workflows, and unlocks margin-protecting decisions with real-time data and capability. Our products span cross-border, tax, returns, demand planning, and our next-generation agentic storefront, giving merchants full transparency and the ability to act with confidence.

At Swap, we’re building a culture that values clarity, creativity, and shared ownership as we redefine how global commerce works.

We are looking for a Senior Billing Associate contractor (12-month FTC) to take ownership of key areas of Swap’s day-to-day billing operations, primarily focused on our Global product. This is a hands-on senior role combining complex billing and reconciliations with systems implementation, automation and process improvement. You will be expected to operate independently, solve complex billing issues and help build more scalable and automated billing processes as Swap grows.

This role suits a problem solver that thrives in a scale-up environment — comfortable operating both strategically and at a detailed transactional level. You’ll be as confident reviewing complex billing issues as you are improving processes, implementing systems, and solving operational bottlenecks.

You will play a critical role in ensuring billing accuracy, scalability, and transparency as Swap grows globally, while building the foundations of a modern, automated finance function.

The responsibilities of this role can change in line with your skills in the future and this is an opportunity to shape this role as Swap grows.

Key responsibilities

- Take ownership of recurring Global billing, ensuring billing is complete, accurate and delivered within agreed timelines

- Prepare and review complex billing calculations, including duty drawback, and own complex customer billing investigations through to resolution

- Perform Global reconciliations, investigate exceptions and identify revenue leakage, anomalies and data integrity issues

- Identify root causes of recurring billing issues and drive improvements to billing processes, controls and operational workflows

- Partner with Finance, Product and operational teams to translate product and data requirements into effective billing processes

- Support the ERP transition, including data migration, validation and re-allocation of transactions and balances across entities

- Support the design, testing and implementation of billing engines, data pipelines and automation for selected products

- Drive adoption of automation and AI-driven workflows across billing, including reconciliation, anomaly detection and exception management

What we would like to see:

- 4–6+ years’ experience in Billing, Revenue, Accounts Receivable or Finance Operations

- Experience with complex, usage-based or multi-stream revenue models

- Advanced Excel skills and confidence manipulating and reconciling large datasets

- Strong reconciliation, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes

- Experience with ERP, billing system implementations, automation or process transformation projects

- Exposure to or strong interest in applying AI and automation within Finance operations

- Ability to take ownership, prioritise independently and operate with minimal supervision

- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment

- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision in a rapidly changing environment, where you operate as both a strategic thinker and hands-on operator

- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change, taking ownership and building rather than maintaining.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment
