Key Responsibilities

1. General skills

1.1 Works to the standards of proficiency set by relevant professional and regulatory bodies (NMC).

1.2Provide safeguarding advice and guidance to staff, using evidenced based practice. Recognising where a referral is required, or escalation to others is appropriate.

1.3 Ensuring that decision making is clearly and accurately reflected within the electronic patient records.

1.4 Participating in the completion of audits, and health research.

1.5 Flexible and agile working across both acute and community sites, delivering support/advice to all services that require.

1.6 Liaise with internal and external agencies to support improved health/social outcomes.

1.7 Work as part of the Integrated Safeguarding Team, contributing to the development, implementation, and delivery of the Safeguarding Strategy in collaboration with colleagues across the wider safeguarding team.

1.8 Work as part of the Integrated Safeguarding Team, contributing to the development of Policies and Procedures, and Standards of Practice.

1.9 Approaches every individual with care, compassion and sensitivity, ensuring these values are evident across all aspects of practice.

2. Leadership

3. Learning and Development

3.1 Actively undertake all training required to maintain and enhance professional proficiency, responding to changes in service delivery, emerging evidence, and new techniques, ensuring competence in accordance with professional body standards.

3.2 Regularly reflects on and evaluates own practice, identifying development needs and setting meaningful objectives through the appraisal process and clinical supervision.

3.3 Contributes to research, audit, or other service development activities relevant to the clinical area, supporting the generation and application of evidencebased practice.

3.4 Assist with the training delivery, supporting the learning and development of others, including students, preceptees and colleagues, promoting a positive learning culture.

4.1 Actively develops and maintains effective working relationships within the Trust and with external agencies and partner organisations.

4.2 Identifies and fosters opportunities for collaborative working, initiating and sustaining partnerships that enhance and improve service delivery.

4.3 Contributes effectively to multidisciplinary team working, maintaining clear communication with external care providers, voluntary organisations and other agencies, acting as a credible and knowledgeable point of contact.

5 Professional Responsibilities

5.1 Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct to uphold public confidence, in accordance with NMC and Code of Conduct, and the CHS Trust Values.

5.2 Promote a consistently professional image and remain fully accountable for ones own clinical practice, ensuring all actions reflect safe, competent and ethical care.

5.3 Always demonstrate professionalism, including in communication, decisionmaking, documentation and interactions with patients, colleagues and partner agencies.

5.4 Work in accordance with the Trusts Values, consistently demonstrating the behaviours expected of all staff. The post holder must carry out their role in a Professional, Compassionate, Respectful and Safe manner at all times, in line with organisational values, standards and behaviours.

5.6 Adhere to all CHS policies and procedures, ensuring safe, compliant and accountable practice across all areas of work.

5.7 Take responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of themselves and others, always complying with Health and Safety Regulations and the Trusts Health and Safety policies and procedures.

5.8 Maintain confidentiality at all times, ensuring that any information obtained during employment is shared only with those acting in an official capacity, and strictly in accordance with the Data Protection Act and its amendments.

6.0 Adhere to the Trusts Infection Control Policy, procedures and guidelines, always practising strict hand hygiene during clinical duties.

6.1 Comply with the Trusts Safeguarding Children and Adults policies, procedures and protocols. All staffpaid or unpaidhave a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. This requires the post holder to:

• Be familiar with, The London Safeguarding Adults PanLondon Procedures.
• Adhere to local informationsharing protocols and systems.
• Know the appropriate safeguarding contact numbers and escalation routes.
• Participate in required safeguarding training and supervision.
• Maintain professional boundaries and comply with the relevant codes of conduct.

Note:

• A child is defined as anyone under the age of 18, including unborn children.
• A adult is someone who is 18 and above.

6.7 Work within the relevant Professional Bodys Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice, maintaining high standards of professionalism and accountability.

6.8 Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time, consistent with the responsibilities and grade of the post.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Statutory professional body registration; Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing.
• Professional Degree or Diploma or Post Graduate qualification in specialist field.

Desirable

• Additional training in relation to; train the trainer, DoLS.

knowledge and understanding

Essential

• Knowledge of Law & Legislation, and national policies, including; Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005), DoLS, PREVENT, Domestic Abuse Act (2021).
• Demonstrate an awareness of the complex issues involved when working across organisations and disciplines.
• Understanding of NMC Code of Conduct and scope of professional practice.

Desirable

• Understanding of audit and research processes

Experience

Essential

• 3 years clinical nursing experience.
• Experience of working with adults who were at risk or experiencing abuse/neglect, including management/co-ordination.
• Evidence of multi-agency working.
• Experience of delivering training
• Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable

• Experience of report writing
• Experience of auditing
