Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Female RHU Driver & Chaperone to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for driving our Roving Health Care Unit to various locations across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland to support our patients and to Chaperone for our nursing team as required . Your energetic approach and excellent communication skills will help foster a positive experience for everyone involved. Due to the nature of this role, there is an occupational requirement for the postholder to be female.
The postholder will act as a formal chaperone during cervical screening examinations and will be required to remain present throughout intimate examinations, supporting patient safety, privacy, dignity and wellbeing.
This requirement is made under the occupational requirement provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
Main duties of the job
- Clinic Management: Running clinics independently, including opening/closing procedures, key distribution, health and safety, risk and waste management, and cleaning. Reporting incidents to the Operational Clinical Lead.
- Equipment Liaison: Ensuring all necessary equipment is available for clinics by coordinating with relevant teams to support a positive patient experience.
- Ensure pre-visit meeting or phone call is held 2 weeks prior to attending location to ensure smooth operational running and expectations of all stakeholders are delivered.
- To act as a formal chaperone within the cervical screening clinics and where required essential Healthcare services.
- Staying for the whole examination and be able to see what the practitioner is doing, if practical to do so.
- Maintain patient safety and advocate for their privacy and dignity.
- Reassuring the patient if they show any signs of distress or discomfort by providing emotional support.
- Lead the setup and day-to-day management of Roving Healthcare Unit clinics, including opening/closing procedures, site safety, and vehicle checks.
- Act as the onsite main point of contact for clinical staff, volunteers, and external partners, ensuring smooth coordination.
- Oversee equipment preparation and ensure all essential items are available to support effective clinic delivery.
