Role description

Job summary

Dorset is entering the second year of an ambitious Neighbourhood Health programme, working with partners and communities to create healthier, thriving communities, with care and support where people live, when they need it.

The development of Neighbourhood Health is a complex and emergent, outcome-based transformation programme. This means that while there is clarity as to the expected outcomes, much of the 'how' will continue to emerge as we work through the programme.

We are looking for an experienced transformation programme director able to embrace a dynamic and flexible approach to programme delivery, while maintaining a clear focus on the intended benefits and ensuring programme delivery is aligned to the realisation of the intended impact.

This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate with need to adopt a complexity aware approach, capturing learning and using information and insight to inform course correction decisions and ensure delivery of the required programme outcomes and impact.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the ability to blend transformational change skills and expertise with fresh ideas, think critically, and explore innovative ways to deliver the expected benefits of Neighbourhood Health across Dorset.

The Programme Director will act as the principal programme advisor and trusted partner to the SRO and Transformation Director, ensuring they have the information, structure, assurance and support needed to provide effective programme leadership.

  • oMaster's degree or equivalent experience
  • oEvidence of ongoing professional development

Experience

  • oSignificant senior leadership experience within the NHS, health and care, local government, or similarly complex environments
  • oSignificant experience leading strategic, complex transformation programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
  • oExperience supporting Boards and Programme SROs

  • oExperience contributing to or influencing national policy
  • oExperience testing and implementing emerging national policy locally.

Knowledge

Essential

  • oExpert knowledge of programme governance, assurance, portfolio management and evaluation
  • Excellent knowledge of change and programme management methodologies
  • oSignificant experience in governance, PMO oversight, benefits realisation and evaluation

  • oStrong knowledge of healthcare policy and legislation relating to Integrated Neighbourhoods.
