Applications are invited for the post of Preterm Clinical Fellow (ST4+ equivalent) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
There is 1 full-time positions available fixed term for minimum 12 months.
The Preterm Clinical Fellow will be based in the preterm team at St Thomas' Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based with the preterm team at St Thomas' Hospital. They will assist in running the preterm clinic all day Wednesday. Working in collaboration with the 3 preterm consultants, they will be expected to become competent to provide expert advice regarding inpatients on the antenatal ward and on the Hospital Birth Centre. The post holder will work to align the goals for preterm prediction, prevention and preparation outlined in the Saving Babies Lives care Bundle v3 (SBLCBv3) and the BAPM Framework for extreme prematurity. They will become competent in the insertion of transvaginal and transabdominal cerclages. It is anticipated that they will undertake quality improvement projects within the service and this will be worked up together with their supervisor. The post holder will also be supervising KCL BSc students with their ongoing projects. It is anticipated that this may be used as a stepping stone to pursue a MD/PhD in preterm birth.
The post holder will do an all-day theatre list once a month for the insertion of transabdominal cerclages. They will also be available to undertake emergency cerclages during the weekdays.
