Spire Dunedin Hospital is looking for a Ward Manager to lead our Surgical Ward on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

About the Role
As a Ward Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the Surgical Ward, ensuring patients receive outstanding care throughout their hospital journey whilst maintaining high standards of quality, safety and operational performance.
Working closely with nursing colleagues, consultants, senior clinical leaders and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care within the Surgical Ward.
- Manage the day-to-day operational performance of the ward, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery.
- Provide visible clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing team.
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, induction and ongoing development of colleagues.
- Lead, coach and develop the Surgical Ward team, supporting colleagues to grow, succeed and deliver outstanding patient care.
- Promote a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety and continuous improvement.
- Manage patient feedback and complaints effectively, using learning to enhance the patient experience.
- Ensure governance, audit, risk management and regulatory requirements are embedded within daily practice.
- Work closely with the Head of Clinical Services to drive quality, performance and service development.
