Job summary

We are looking to appoint a Nursing Team Leader to support, motivate and mentor our Inpatient Unit Team here at Garden House Hospice Care.

Main duties of the job

You will support the Inpatient Unit Manager to ensure optimum care standards for patients and their families.

You will be a Registered Nurse with NMC Registration, supporting and overseeing nurses, APs, NAs and HCAs as well as student nurses to deliver direct and indirect care.

You will be compassionate with a good understanding of the needs of patients living with life limiting illness and their loved ones.

Interviews will be held on Friday 25th September 2026.

Patients on our inpatient unit are looked after by our specialist team 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We provide support and care to patients with a wide range of symptoms associated with a life-limiting illness, as well as their families.

We support our patients by providing symptom control, psychological support and end of life care.

Our high nurse-to-patient ratio ensures that patients are able to get the dedicated support that they might need.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To provide a high-quality specialist palliative care service to patients with a life limiting illness and to provide care and support for relatives and carers on the Inpatient Unit.
  • To support the IPU Manager in team leadership, ensuring optimum care standards for patients and families.
  • To develop and maintain effective relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure collaborative working for the benefit of patient care
  • To act as a role model and promote excellence in nursing practice
  • Utilise your experience and specialist knowledge of palliative care to deliver appropriate symptom control, care and medication and support team members to develop these skills in practice

Essential

  • Experience of life limiting disease management or palliative and end of life care
  • Experience of team and ward management
  • Experience of personalised care and support planning that includes advance care planning and treatment escalation planning
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working

Qualifications

  • RN educated to Diploma or Degree level
