Role description

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic band 5/6 nurse to join our Neurodevelopmental team supporting young people who take ADHD medication.

We are open to Redeployment for this role.

You would be working with a team of specialists including psychiatry, psychology, OT and registered nurses supporting the assessments of ADHD and Autism and managing young people who take ADHD medication.

We work as a multidisciplinary team and we are looking for band 5/6 nurse who can support our non medical prescribers in offering medication reviews for young people taking ADHD medication.

Main duties of the job

To manage a case load of young people taking ADHD medication

To record physical health observations - height, weight, blood pressure and pulse. recording this accurately in the electronic patient record.

Documenting accurately and communicating through clinical outcome letters to primary care GP's and other services.

To be able to complete risk assessments and collaboratively develop plans of care with young people

Supporting the team in the responding to clinical enquiries received

Job description

Job responsibilities

To monitor young people on ADHD medication and show understanding and awareness of medication side effects.

Complete detailed clinical documentation and escalate concerns to senior staff members when required

Provide clinical letters to GP's recording accurately medication doses and physical health observations

To show clear documentation on the electronic patient record and be able to complete risk assessments and develop collaboratively care plans with young people using the service.

To respond to clinical enquiries to the team

To liaise with other agencies and show awareness of East Sussex child protection processes

To provide screening of new referrals to the service.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current registration [mental health/LD/Adult], appropriate to the job role.

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of MHA (1983/2007).
  • Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (2005), to include practical knowledge of FACE documentation, DOLS and Best Interest decisions.
  • Child and Adult safe guarding procedures
  • Change management at organising and prioritising their workload
  • Demonstrate ability to enhance care through evidence based knowledge
  • Demonstrate professional development relevant to the specific care group
