Job summary
We are looking for great colleagues to join our team. This post is within the Clinical Service Unit of Respiratory Medicine and we are seeking a Locum Consultant who can lead, compliment and develop general and specialist respiratory care within the Northern Care Alliance based at Royal Oldham Hospital.
The Respiratory Directorate provides specialist services from our hospital sites and community settings for the people in the North East sector of Greater Manchester. It is a well-developed service with an excellent reputation led by a dynamic team.
Candidates should be on the Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine (GIM) or hold the certificate of completion of specialist training or expect to do so within six months of the interview for the appointment. This post is a 12-month fixed term WTE (10PA).
Main duties of the job
Main responsibilities will be contributing to the Respiratory ward consultant rota with a roughly 1:3 consultant of the week model and providing regular outpatient respiratory clinics/ services. On non-ward weeks the post holder will be expected to deliver outpatient activity, likely one general respiratory clinic a week and a further clinic(s) depending on the applicant's particular subspecialty interest (there is a particular opportunity to develop an on-site asthma clinic alongside the existing clinics/ severe asthma service available at other sites within the trust).
Triage, virtual and outpatient review of general respiratory referrals will be included in all job plans. Developing an acute respiratory "hot clinic" to allow patients presenting to A&E/ SDEC to be discharged with early respiratory input on discharge or to see urgent referrals from primary care will be encouraged.
This is an exciting time for a new Respiratory Physician to help develop and enhance respiratory services for the local population.
