Role description

Job summary

As a temporary worker, you will be supporting the Community Hospitals Team based at one of our hospitals or supporting our Care Home services, where you will be delivering care, both clinical and non-clinical to patients/ clients. You'll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence.

Main duties of the job

o recording your actions accurately in patient noteso Basic observationso personal care - washing and dressing.o Catheter care - changing catheter bags and changing catheterso Mouth careo Stoma careo Supporting fluid and nutritiono Calibration of blood glucose machines and taking blood glucose levelso MRSA swabso Risk assessments such as falls assessment, nutrition and hydration, skin integrityo Sub cut injections (e.g. insulin injection)o Venepunctureo ECGo Simple wound managemento Post-surgical woundso Aseptic non touch techniqueo Bladder scanning

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3. This could be an NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship, BTEC or equivalent international qualification in healthcare

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience of healthcare/ working as a health care assistant gained through education, work experience or previous employment.
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting
