Job summary
The Extended Scope Podiatrist is an advanced specialist practitioner who supports the Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with highly complex musculoskeletal foot and ankle conditions. The postholder will work across the complete patient pathway, including outpatient and community assessment, pre-operative planning, operating theatre activity and post-operative care.
The postholder will manage a specialist caseload with a high degree of professional autonomy, providing evidence-based conservative and surgical pathway care within the defined scope of podiatric practice. The role also provides clinical leadership, specialist advice, education and supervision, and contributes to service development, clinical governance, audit, research and quality improvement.
Main duties of the job
The Podiatry Service delivers specialist care to a diverse patient population presenting with foot and lower limb conditions, primarily within a primary care setting. Led by an experienced team comprising Specialist Podiatrists, the service provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of foot deformities and pathologist.
