Role description

Join us at Greene King, the country's leading pub company and brewer, where our mission is to pour happiness into lives and become the pride of great British hospitality.

We have something special, deeply rooted in our 220-year brewing and pub history, creating the business we are proudly known for today. Still today our 39,000 strong team are the guardians of what’s wholly British, the pub experience.

We're looking for an experienced Executive Assistant to become a trusted strategic partner to a member of our Executive Team. You'll play a pivotal part in driving business priorities forward, managing complex stakeholder relationships and ensuring strategic initiatives maintain momentum across the business.

Working closely with Executive members, senior leaders, fellow Executive Assistants and support teams, you'll act as an extension of the executive, enabling effective decision-making, driving accountability and helping deliver successful business outcomes. You'll also line manage a Team Assistant, supporting the wider function to operate efficiently and effectively.

In your role as Executive Assistant, you will:

Partner closely with an Executive team to manage priorities, actions and business outcomes

Drive progression of key strategic initiatives, ensuring actions are tracked and delivered against agreed timelines

Anticipate challenges, identify risks and proactively resolve issues before they escalate

Maintain visibility of strategic projects, surfacing blockers and driving momentum across multiple workstreams

Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders

Take ownership of projects and initiatives within the Executive Board member's area of responsibility

Prepare high-quality board and committee papers, presentations, briefings and executive communications

Support end-to-end governance processes, including agendas, actions, deadlines and meeting preparation

Manage requests and communications on behalf of the Executive Board member, ensuring priorities are effectively coordinated

Create strong cross-functional relationships to bring together the right people and drive business activity forward

Line manage and develop a Team Assistant, ensuring effective support is provided across the wider leadership team

Manage complex diaries, travel arrangements and logistics in a way that maximises executive effectiveness

Ensure meetings are well prepared, outcome-focused and aligned to business priorities

Act as a professional ambassador for the Executive Board member across the business

Coordinate complex communication flows between Executive Board members, Leadership Group members and external stakeholders

Champion efficient, coordinated and technology-enabled ways of working

Collaborate closely with the Executive Assistant and support network to promote best practice, consistency and continuous improvement across the business

What you'll bring

Significant experience supporting senior executives or board-level leaders in a complex organisation

Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence at senior levels

Strong strategic planning and prioritisation capabilities

Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment

Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level materials

Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive and solutions-focused approach

Sound judgement, discretion and experience handling confidential information

Experience managing projects, actions and governance activities from initiation through to completion

Previous people management or coaching experience would be advantageous
