Job summary
London Ambulance Service NHS Trust is seeking an exceptional senior leader to join the Trust Operations Directorate as Deputy Director of Emergency Operations Centre.
Reporting to the Director of Emergency Operations Centre, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and resilient delivery of the Trust's 24/7 Emergency Operations Centre. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across emergency call handling, dispatch, clinical triage, clinical validation, remote consultation, workforce delivery, quality assurance and resilience.
Leading a large multidisciplinary workforce, you will drive operational performance, service improvement and transformation while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety and governance. Working closely with executive colleagues, system partners and clinical leaders, you will help shape the future delivery of urgent and emergency care services across London.
The role includes participation in the Trust's strategic on-call rota and providing senior leadership during major incidents and periods of significant operational pressure.
We are seeking an experienced senior leader with a proven track record of delivering operational improvement, leading large-scale services and managing complex organisational change.
Priority consideration will be given to eligible redeployment candidates in accordance with the Trust's Redeployment Policy.
Main duties of the job
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Operations Centre and its services.
- Lead delivery of operational performance, quality, workforce and financial objectives.
- Develop and implement the EOC's strategic, business and transformation plans.
- Lead workforce planning, organisational development and succession planning across the portfolio.
- Ensure robust governance arrangements are in place to manage risk, patient safety and service quality.
- Work with system partners, commissioners and healthcare providers to improve patient pathways and outcomes.
- Provide executive-level leadership during major incidents and periods of exceptional operational demand.
- Deputise for the Director of Emergency Operations Centre at local, regional and national forums.
- Lead service redesign, innovation and technology-enabled improvement programmes.
Foster a culture of inclusion, accountability, continuous improvement and staff engagement.
