The formal AAC interview AAC panel will be held on 15th October 2026.

On 1st April 2022, paediatric and child health services across Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust came together under a single and integrated governance and leadership structure creating West London Children's Healthcare (WLCH).

We have an ambitious vision to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people across West London through collaboration of clinical teams and by building stronger, equitable common care pathways with close links to research and education colleagues at Imperial College.

WLCH runs paediatric services from four sites, St Mary's Hospital (SMH), Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, West Middlesex and Hammersmith Hospital. In addition, we are working in partnership with other acute providers in NWL and with our partners in community, mental health, local borough and voluntary sector services to improve care for all children and young people

WLCH are delighted to offer this 8PA substantive post to join our ambitious and highly specialised Paediatric Allergy Team at St Mary's Hospital. This post is suitable for those fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice who hold a CCT in Paediatric Allergy or for those whom will be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the interview date.

Main duties of the job

This post offers the opportunity to deliver complex allergy care and to help shape the future of the service by delivering innovative therapeutic approaches within the clinical and research MDT. Imperial is the Lead Allergy Service for the North West London Allergy Network caring for over 5500 children with allergy and their families. The post offers the opportunity to contribute to the care of children with allergy across the network through shared learning and by modelling of excellent care.

The postholder will be expected to undertake clinical activity including General and Complex Paediatric Allergy Clinics, Baby clinic and participate in support and supervision of Paediatric Allergy Day unit activity. The successful applicant will show that they will be calm and effective in emergency scenarios, holding a valid APLS or equivalent certificate.

The postholder will actively contribute to weekly MDT meetings including Complex Allery MDT.

Formal and informal education and supervision of resident doctors and education and support of medical students and MDT members of allied specialities is an important part of the role. The successful applicant will bring an open, warm and collaborative approach to teaching and supervision in these areas.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The successful applicant will deliver an 8PA job plan of 6.4 PA DCC and 1.6PA SPA.

Individual job plans will be devised with the successful applicant upon appointment but a suggested job plan is given in the job description.

DCC activity will consist of 3-3.5 clinics per week, day unit support, vetting/advice and guidance, MDT and safeguarding meeting attendance.

SPA time will include supervision of resident trainees, contribution and service development and clinical governance as well as maintenance of mandatory training.

The post also offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to be involved in research The department is one of the leading specialist units in the country with a highly active research programme led by Professor Adnan Custovic, Professor of Allergy.

EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration
  • On the GMC's Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview. Note: CESR applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the point of application
  • Level 3 safeguarding or above Advanced Paediatric Life Support Training (APLS/EPALS) or equivalent

  • Able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements

  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff

  • Clinical experience in paediatric allergy care, transition/adolescent allergy and integrated clinical networks
