Role description

Job summary

The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust hosts a leading regional Cancer Centre, and we are seeking a well-organized Clinical Consultant Oncologist to join our team.

The successful candidate will provide expertise in the management and treatment of patients with Lung and Lymphoma tumours. This includes offering Chemotherapy, systemic therapy, and Radiotherapy (including Stereotactic). This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team providing exceptional cancer care in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

This is a permanent post, at 7.5 PA/week including COW and on-call.

The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex cancer surgery, to a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million people in South West Surrey and Hampshire. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. We have recently opened our newly refurbished Cancer Centre, and are delighted to offer a modern and welcoming environment for patients. We are proud to work collaboratively with local and regional cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Facility, and look forward to welcoming medical students from the newly opened University of Surrey Medical School.

Main duties of the job

Here at the Cancer Centre, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting. Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, such as Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy, real-time adaptive radiotherapy, high dose rate brachytherapy and a mobile community infusion suite. We also deliver a full range of diagnostic nuclear medicine tests to both adult and paediatric patients, as well as providing a comprehensive Molecular Radiotherapy service (including I-131 for benign and malignant thyroid disease). We have a close working partnership with the private Radiotherapy provider adjacent to the Trust, run by GenesisCare. This brings opportunities for Clinical Oncologists to access the MR Linac for not only private patients, but NHS patients

We value the expertise of our skilled staff, and will support your professional development through dedicated SPA time, pursuing CPD opportunities and encouraging participation in clinical research. We aim to provide a supportive and collegiate working environment, where teams and individuals alike can reach their full potential.
