Job Title: Clinical Research Fellow Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Purpose for Fixed Term: Short term funding
This post is appointed on a fixed-term basis for the primary purpose of providing structured training and supervised clinical development. While the postholder will contribute to service delivery, the overarching purpose of the post is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum

Main duties of the job
As part of our team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues, helping to deliver excellent services and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. As part of the expansion of the Southampton Clinical Research programme, a new clinical research fellow post is available. 50% of your time will be spent on research service provision to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and other studies at the SCBR and UHS.
The remaining 50% of your time will be available to be spent supervised by a designated clinical academic with the intention of providing the time and support for an application to be made for a formal research training fellowship (eg MRC, Wellcome Trust or NIHR RTF) and registration for study towards a higher degree (usually PhD). The post will be appointed for 12 months in the first instance.
The position is available from 7th September 2026. It would suit a highly motivated individual who would like to gain experience of running research trials as well as developing their own studies.
