Role description

Job summary

Are you a people person, who likes working in a lively environment? Then we invite you to apply to join our Paediatric Emergency Department's clerical team.

You will be the first point of contact for visitors and service users and will assist in the smooth running of the Emergency Department and patient pathways. Using your customer service skills you will have the opportunity to enhance and improve all our visitors' experience when visiting the department.

Main duties of the job

  • Book in all patients upon arrival in a timely and correct manner, to ensure prompt handovers of patients.
  • To ensure the reception and waiting areas remain tidy and clean escalating any issues to domestic services, nurse in charge or matron as appropriate.
  • To attend and participate in Department / Directorate meetings.
  • Scan patient notes ensuring timely co-ordination of transfers and discharges.
  • Ensure that patient notes are available and accessible.
  • Ensure that patient related forms are stocked appropriately at all times.
  • Ensure that ambulance handovers are accurately recorded (Including updating the department's inbound screen) in a timely manner.
  • To support the Senior Patient Flow Coordinator (SPFC) in the validation of ambulance delays and fines.
