Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly organised Business Manager to join our Strategy and Transformation Directorate. Working directly with the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer and Directorate Senior Management Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the Trust's strategic, transformation, planning and commercial development priorities.

We are looking for a proactive and credible individual with excellent organisational, communication and analytical skills. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. Experience in business management, governance, performance reporting, project delivery or service improvement within a complex organisation is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing direct business management support to the Strategy and Transformation Directorate as a member of the Directorate Senior Management Team
  • Coordinating and supporting the work of the Directorate Senior Management Team to deliver strategic, transformation, planning and commercial development objectives
  • Leading and coordinating agreed projects, directorate development activity and improvement initiatives that support delivery of the Trust strategy and transformation portfolio.

  • Line management responsibility for designated administrative and business support staff within the Directorate, as agreed.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Educated to post graduate diploma level in a related field e.g. business management/administration or equivalent higher level knowledge and proven experience
  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) Knowledge of a wide range of business procedures

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE 2

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience in a senior administrative, business manager or directorate coordination role
  • Production of documentation, including drafting documents, briefings, meeting papers and action logs on behalf of senior management
  • Experience of developing, implementing and monitoring of policies and procedures
  • Significant experience of developing systems to capture, monitor and report on directorate metrics, actions, risks and delivery data in an efficient way.

Desirable

  • Arranging conferences and workshops
  • Experience of budgeting and other financial processes

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Essential

  • Ability to collect, interpret and maintain statistical, workforce, performance and delivery data and produce well written reports.
  • Knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures including developing new systems
  • Staff management, delegation and motivation
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, including with executive directors, deputy directors and senior management teams
