Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust are actively recruiting a Band 4 Therapy Assistant. We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and innovative individual to join our therapy department at KGH working with our frailty team to provide an exercise programme for our patients on the elderly wards.Working in a fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to offer a programme of exercises to our patients to prevent deconditioning and keep patients mobile. As a Band 4 Therapy Assistant you will have the opportunity to build a strong set of skills such as assessing and upgrading exercise programmes under the guidance of the qualified therapist.
You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, some experience as a therapy assistant and a care certificate or equivalentWe have a strong commitment to continuing development with an established in-service training programme. You will be well supported by experienced therapists.

Main duties of the job
o To provide skilled routine, and non-routine, clinical and technical support to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team and clerical staff associated with the team.
o To accept routine patient referrals as defined within the framework matrix, and assess and treat according to protocols and guidelines. To monitor patient progression, and make alterations to intervention as required. To discharge routine patients once their therapeutic goals have been met and an appropriate discharge plan established.
o To work independently, with access to direct supervision as required. To maintain close communication with the Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to facilitate patient care.
o To organise and participate in the team induction and in-service training programmes. Routinely providing in-service training to team colleagues.
o To carry out other duties deemed necessary by the Clinical Lead/Clinical Specialist in discussion with the post holder to ensure adequate provision of service.
o The qualified therapists within the team will remain responsible for:
o Allocation of patients for assessment / interventiono Overseeing the clinical quality and ensuring appropriateness of the intervention practised with the patiento Setting the protocols and guidelines and monitoring the progression of the patient
